Battle Droids are mass-produced, expendable soldiers utilized by the Trade Federation and later the Confederacy of Independent Systems during the Clone Wars in the Star Wars universe. These droids are primarily designed for combat and are controlled by a central command system, making them effective in large numbers.

Though various models exist, they are generally characterized by their thin, metallic frames, monotone voices, and somewhat clumsy movements. Their effectiveness as soldiers is often hampered by their low intelligence and susceptibility to simple tactics.

Battle Droids first appeared in Star Wars: Episode I – The Phantom Menace (1999) as the primary infantry force of the Trade Federation during the invasion of Naboo.
